What’s inside this radius?
Open the same circle in another tool, no need to search again.
How to use it
Set the center by searching for a place, using your location or tapping the map, then choose the radius. The list is sorted by distance and shows each place’s population and direction (north, southeast…). Use “Minimum population” to keep only the bigger ones, and switch off CDPs to see only incorporated cities and towns.
Tap a place to see it on the map, sort the list by population or name, and download it as a CSV for Excel. The link keeps the circle so you can share it.
50 miles around downtown Denver
There are 165 cities, towns and census-designated places within 50 miles of downtown Denver, home to 3,584,533 people; 74 of them are incorporated cities and towns. The biggest are Denver (740,613), Aurora (410,053), Lakewood (156,927) and Thornton (147,766), and the closest to the center, apart from Denver itself, is Glendale (3.6 mi).
Cities, towns and CDPs
Incorporated places (cities, towns, villages and boroughs, depending on the state) have their own local government. Census-designated places, or CDPs, are communities without one that the Census Bureau maps so they can be counted, like many suburbs and resort towns. Both are in the list, each at its interior point.
A place counts when that point is within the radius. Population is the total for the whole place, even if part of it lies outside the circle.
Where the data comes from
Population for cities and towns is the Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimate (July 1, 2025); for CDPs, which don’t get yearly estimates, it’s the American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimate. Interior points and land area come from the 2025 Gazetteer Files. Distances are straight-line distances on the WGS84 ellipsoid.
Frequently asked questions
Is the distance a driving distance?
No, it’s a straight line from the center of the circle to each place’s interior point. Driving distances are always a bit longer.
What’s a CDP?
A census-designated place: a community without its own city or town government that the Census Bureau defines so it can be counted. Turn off “Include unincorporated places” to hide them.
How current is the population?
Cities and towns use the Vintage 2025 estimates; CDPs use the ACS 2020–2024 5-year estimates, the most recent the Census Bureau publishes for them.
How many places can I get?
All the ones inside, up to a 500-mile radius. The page shows the 500 closest that match the filter; the CSV has all of them.
Does it work outside the US?
In Spain it lists towns by municipality, with the official population register. Other countries aren’t covered yet.
