What’s inside this radius?

Open the same circle in another tool, no need to search again.

How to use it

Search for an address or a town, use your location or tap the map to set the center, then choose the radius with the slider, by typing a number or with the quick values. The list is sorted from nearest to farthest; tap a column header to sort by population or by ZIP, and tap a ZIP to see it on the map.

Download CSV gives you the ZIP, city, county, state, population, land area, distance and coordinates, ready for Excel or a CRM. The link keeps the center and the radius, so whoever opens it sees exactly the same list.

10 miles around Times Square

There are 199 ZIP codes with their center within 10 miles of Times Square, home to 7,645,445 people. The closest ones are 10020 (New York), 10110 (New York) and 10036 (New York).

A ZIP code counts when its interior point (a point the Census Bureau places inside each ZIP area) is within the radius, so a large rural ZIP whose edge crosses the circle but whose center is outside won’t show up. Make the radius a little bigger if you need to catch those.

ZIP codes and ZCTAs

The Postal Service doesn’t publish ZIP code boundaries: ZIP codes are mail routes, not areas. The Census Bureau builds ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) from census blocks to match them as closely as possible, and publishes their population. That’s what this tool uses.

There are 33,642 ZCTAs in the 50 states and DC. ZIP codes used only for PO boxes, a single building or a large company have no ZCTA, so they don’t appear in the list.

Where the data comes from

ZIP areas, interior points and land area come from the Census Bureau’s 2025 Gazetteer Files; population, from the American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimates; and the city and county of each ZIP, from the 2020 ZCTA relationship files (the place and county that share the most land with it). Distances are straight-line distances on the WGS84 ellipsoid.

Frequently asked questions

How many ZIP codes can I get?

All the ones inside, up to a 500-mile radius. The page shows the 500 closest; the CSV has every one of them.

Is the distance a straight line or a driving distance?

A straight line, from the center of the circle to the interior point of each ZIP code. Driving distances are always a bit longer.

Why is a ZIP code I know missing?

Because it has no ZCTA: ZIP codes for PO boxes, single buildings or large organizations aren’t areas, so the Census Bureau doesn’t map them. Its area is part of a neighboring ZCTA.

How old is the population data?

It’s the American Community Survey 2020–2024 5-year estimate, the most recent the Census Bureau publishes for every ZIP code area.

Does it work outside the US?

In Spain it lists municipalities instead, because Spanish postal code boundaries aren’t open data. Other countries aren’t covered yet.
