What is the highest mountain in Spain?
Mount Teide, on Tenerife in the Canary Islands, at 12,188 ft (3,715 m). On the mainland it’s Mulhacén, in the Sierra Nevada, at 11,414 ft (3,479 m), and in the Pyrenees, Aneto, at 11,168 ft (3,404 m).
Where do these elevations come from?
From Spain’s National Geographic Institute (IGN): the elevation of each population center (IGR Poblaciones) for cities and the official figure for each summit. For 41 cities the published figure didn’t match the terrain or referred to a point far from the center, so we use the ground height in the IGN’s MDT05 terrain model at the town’s reference point, and the page says so.
