Florida on the map
Florida has 67 counties, the 20th most of any state (tied with 2 others). The largest is Collier, with 1,997 sq mi of land, and the smallest is Union, with 244 sq mi: Collier is about 8 times bigger.
The state capital, Tallahassee, is in Leon County. The capital version marks it on the map.
Miami-Dade County is the most populous, with 2,802,029 people in 2025, or 12% of the state. The least populous is Liberty, with 8,035. Since 2020, St. Johns has grown the fastest (+26.7%) and Monroe has lost the most (−3.0%).
What each county borders
Alachua borders the most counties in the state: 7 (Bradford, Columbia, Gilchrist, Levy, Marion, Putnam, and Union).
14 counties touch another state. 9 border Georgia: Baker, Columbia, Gadsden, Hamilton, Jackson, Jefferson, Leon, Madison and 1 more. 6 border Alabama: Escambia, Holmes, Jackson, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton.
35 counties are on the coast. 24 counties are fully inland, with no coast and no border with another state or country.
Number key
Numbers follow alphabetical order, from 1 (Alachua) to 67 (Washington). Pinellas and Union are too small for a number on Letter or A4 but keep their number in the table; Tabloid and A3 fit more. Area is land area, without lakes or sea, and population is the Census estimate for July 1, 2025; “Borders” counts neighboring counties in the same state.
