Canada on the map
Canada is divided into 10 provinces and 3 territories, 13 in all, covering about 9,890,000 km² (3,820,000 sq mi) as measured on the map. The largest is Nunavut (2,070,000 km² (797,000 sq mi)) and the smallest, Prince Edward Island (5,720 km² (2,210 sq mi)): Nunavut is about 361 times bigger.
The capital is Ottawa, in Ontario. The capitals version marks the capital of each province.
What each province borders
Northwest Territories borders the most provinces: 5 (Alberta, British Columbia, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and Yukon). Prince Edward Island borders no other province: it is an island or archipelago.
Canada borders United States. 8 provinces border United States: Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon.
11 provinces have a coastline and 2 don’t: Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Number key
Numbers follow alphabetical order, from 1 (Alberta) to 13 (Yukon). Prince Edward Island is too small for a number on A4 but keeps its number in the table. Areas are measured on the map and approximate; “Borders” counts neighboring provinces.
