What each province borders

La Vega borders the most provinces: 9 (Azua, Duarte, Espaillat, Hermanas Mirabal, San Juan, Sánchez Ramírez, Santiago, Monseñor Nouel, and San José de Ocoa).

The Dominican Republic borders Haiti. 5 provinces border Haiti: Dajabón, Elías Piña, Independencia, Monte Cristi, and Pedernales.

17 provinces have a coastline and 15 don’t.

Number key

Numbers follow alphabetical order, from 1 (Azua) to 32 (Valverde). Distrito Nacional is too small for a number on A4 but keeps its number in the table. Areas are measured on the map and approximate; “Borders” counts neighboring provinces.
